In a bid to deepen grassroots football development and unearth more talents in Ondo State, Ijapo Ages Football Club (IAFC) kicked off its fourth edition of intra club competition.

Antelope FC played goaless draw with Buffalo FC in the opening match of the competition. While Dragon FC trashed Crocodile FC 3-1 in the second match of the match day.

It was a display of good football artistry to the admiration of the spectators at Ijapo/ Housing field ,in Akure the state capital.

Efforts from Antelope FC to get a better side of Buffalo got stiff resistance as their Goalkeeper, Ajibola shown like a Stars after saving from spot kick to ensure the score line remained blank .

While John Tope and Timilehin John scored each goal in 10th minute and 16th minute of the encounter before Gbolahan Balogun reduced the deficit in the 18th minute to end the first half 2-1 .

The restart of the game saw the continued hostility between both sides, Crocodile FC showed more intensity to level the score line but the Dragon FC tamed all their tricks .

Tope John sealed the victory for his side when he outran the opposition defence and dribbled their Goalkeeper wide before left footed to right corner of the net to complete his brace of the day.

In a chat with Journalists , the chairman of the planning committee of the tourney, Shalom Olaseeni disclosed that the competition was put in place to keep the youth busy and to also inject healthy rivalry among the players.

He added “that our target is to further positively expose the talented players in the club, we are using the competition to tell football enthusiasts in the Akure Metropolis that football really resides in Ijapo axis.

“Our club recently won the football competition organized among the clubs in the state, the success of the competition was as a result of intra club competition.

“We will continue to contribute our quota to the development of the round leather game in the state,” he said.
