Team Apple defeated Date-Plum 2-1 in the week two of the Ijapo Ages Stars FC (IASFC) Intra club competition played at Ijapo/ Housing field in Akure the state capital.

While team Cherry and Banana had earlier shared the spoils in a cagey first match tie.

Both teams pushed for goal that never came through out the duration of the game.

Apple got their lead through Olakiitan Daramola having pounced on Date -Plum goalkeeper’s error, before Tope john levelled the deficit for his side going into the halftime break.

The restart of the game saw Adeleye Adewole scoring the winning goal for his side after dribbling past two Date -Plum players and put the ball at the top corner of the net .

Date -Plum efforts to level up were resisted by the strong wall of the Apple back line, as they coasted home with maximum points.

The results of the matchday two placed Team Cherry on top of the log with 4 points from two matches, while Apple and Banana occupied second positions with two and three points respectively and  Date -Plum swimming in the bottom of the table with one point.

The Chairman of the Organising committee, Shalom Olaseeni reiterated his call on the participating teams to play according to the rules of the competition, saying they should not see the tournament as do or die affairs.

He said: “Thank God for the success of the week two encounter, we hope to regroup in full for the week three encounter in peace ,I’m optimistic that more football stars will be produced through this competition,” he said.
