More facts have emerged why the dare devil armed bandits stormed First Bank Idoani branch in a commando and violent style.
Impeccable sources said the robbers were acting on a tip-off that the sum of N25 million cash was being brought into the bank by a bullion van.
A very close family friend of one of the victims, who is a retired bank manager The Hope Metro under the condition of anonymity confided that “the robbers must have gotten information that some cash was to hit that branch that day.
“But they got there before the money was taken to the bank.
“There’s possibility that, that was what made the robbers angry to parade the bank officials in front of the bank on their kneels before killing them.
“Perhaps, the robbers miscalculated, because we learnt the cash was moved back upon the information that the robbers had already attacked the branch.
“So, naturally, one would be tempted to assume there was connivance somewhere or an information leakage somewhere.
“Though, one cannot be too sure, but to a large extent, from what is playing out, there is a pointer to the fact that the robbers acted on a tip-off.
Meanwhile, families and friends of one of the victims, the Operations Manager of the bank, Sunday Akindele killed in the robbery operation, have described him as a very gentleman, devoted and God fearing Christian.
The Hope Metro reliably gathered that 42 years old Akindele, who hailed from Okitipupa Local Government Area of the state, was a Nephew to the former Speaker of Ondo State House of Assembly, Hon. Jumoke Akindele.
When our correspondent visited the deceased residence sympathisers were seen trooping in and out of the place wearing mournful looks.
