Work has begun on the 4.7Kilometre Ifesanmi-Mobil-Ikare Akoko Junction dualisation road project in Owo.
The project was recently awarded by the State Executive Council.
Inspecting the project yesterday, the Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, stressed the importance of infrastructural upgrade to the socio-economic well-being of the people.
The Governor who spoke against the background of his administration’s commitment to the delivery of several life-changing projects across the state said the Ifesanmi-Mobil-Ikare Akoko Junction Road in Owo would further make life worth living for the people.
Accompanied by the Commissioner for Infrastructure, Lands and Housing, Engr Raimi Aminu and a Consultant on State Road Project, Engr Remi Osiberu, Akeredolu explained that infrastructures provision are integral part of modernity and the much needed investment attractions to scale up the standard of living of citizens.
“Our government is embarking on road construction and expansion because modernity is catching up on us. You will find out that traffic in many areas are becoming chaotic here. From Mobil to Ikare junction, it is like a nerve centre that connects Akoko, and so all vehicles from there come here.
“So, we believe it is better for us to have dual-carriage way to link place and then extend it to Ifesanmi junction here.
“It is just part of our commitment to improve the infrastructure in our numerous communities. Our works are there for everybody to see; you can see it in Ikare, you can see the Bypass in Okitipupa to Igbokoda, and we are going to commission that one in our First year anniversary. It is completed. You can see what we are doing in Ijoka, what we are doing in Oda, Idanre and all over the state and we thank God for it”, the Governor said.
Earlier, Commissioner for Infrastructure, Lands and Housing, Engr. Raimi Aminu said upon completion, the road project would meet all the standards noted with road construction under the Akeredolu Administration including roads furnitures, lightning to be powered by the National Grid and Solar System.u
