Igogo festival: Company organises Art competition

As activities marking this year’s Igogo festival in the ancient town of Owo hot up, Brass Dollars Global Nigeria Limited, an Abuja based company, has organized a Fine Art Competition among  secondary school students in Owo Local Government area.

The participants at the competition which took place at the Olowo’s palace were made of selected students from Imade College, Methodist High School, New Church Grammar School, Ahamadiya Grammar School , St Louis Girls Grammar School, Owo High School and St. Catherine Girls Grammar School and were accompanied by their instructors.

Addressing the students before the commencement of the competition, a Fine Artist and Instructor in Owo, Dr Deji Aseniserare, said the competition became imperative among the Fine Art students in secondary schools in the area as a way of putting them in a better shape in art and design.

Aseniserare who is also the coordinator of the event, disclosed that the best three in the competition will go home with various prizes and gifts.

He lauded the effort of the sponsor Architect Ogunleye, for his laudable effort at giving back to the community by organizing such competition.

He maintained that this would go a long way to promote the art and culture of the people in the ancient town.

Aseniserare, congratulated the Olowo of Owo, Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye III, for witnessing 2023 Igogo festival celebrations.

Inspecting the students at the occasion, Ogunoye III, lauded the effort of the sponsor for adding glamour to the festival by organising the competition which focus mainly on drawing of his (Olowo) portrait.

Oba Ogunoye, enjoined the students to rise up to the challenge and ensure they reach their peak in art and design by undergo proper training.

The monarch equally called on government at all levels to give adequate support for the students of fine Art as a subject by improving the curriculum.
