The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has extended financial support to the families of 45 deceased police officers in Osun State with the presentation of cheques amounting to N40,360,075.66 under the Nigeria Police Force Welfare Package and Group Life Assurance Scheme.
The cheques were handed over at the Osun State Police Command Headquarters, Osogbo, by the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Gotan, who was represented by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Finance and Administration, Adebisi Lateef.
Addressing the beneficiaries, Gotan charged them to make judicious use of the funds to sustain their families and preserve the legacies of their departed loved ones. He also prayed for the repose of the souls of the fallen officers and commended the Inspector-General for his consistent commitment to the welfare of police personnel and their dependants.
“The Nigeria Police will continue to stand by the families of our fallen heroes. We will not relent in ensuring the welfare of our personnel and their loved ones,” Gotan assured.
He reiterated that the Force remains steadfast in honouring the sacrifices of officers who died in active service while working to ensure peace and national security.
The brief but solemn ceremony was attended by senior police officers, relatives of the deceased officers and other stakeholders.
