The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has inaugurated the newly restructured Force Management Team (FMT) following the appointment of six new Deputy Inspectors-General of Police (DIGs).
The move is aimed at enhancing the administration of the Nigeria Police Force and aligning its operations with the Federal Government’s security agenda.
During the inauguration, IGP Egbetokun reaffirmed his commitment to repositioning the Force into a professionally competent, service-oriented, and people-friendly institution capable of addressing contemporary security challenges.
As part of ongoing reforms, the IGP ordered a comprehensive reorganisation of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) and other investigative units to boost their efficiency.
He also directed an immediate update of the Force’s criminal database, a move expected to strengthen intelligence gathering and expedite case resolution.
To facilitate this, the IGP mandated the Department of Research and Planning (R&P) to collaborate with the Force Intelligence Department (FID) and the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Department.
He emphasised that this synergy would ensure the database is optimised for effective policing and investigative functions.
Highlighting the importance of modern policing tools, IGP Egbetokun pledged to equip these units with advanced technology, specialised training, and necessary resources to enhance their operational capabilities.
He maintained that these measures would not only improve investigative processes but also uphold professionalism, human rights, and the rule of law.
The establishment of the new Force Management Team represents a significant step towards a more efficient and responsive Nigeria Police Force, further reinforcing national security and public safety.
