Traditional rulers in Ikaleland have applauded the Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for his unique style of governance which has brought positive change and all-round development to the state.

The monarchs led by the Abodi of Ikaleland, Oba George Faduyile, particularly lauded the governor for the tremendous progress the state has witnessed in terms of construction and rehabilitation of roads, regular payment of workers’ salaries and retirees’ pension,  development of education, peaceful filling of vacant stools in the state, and appointment of Ikale sons and daughters into political offices both at the state and federal levels, among others.

Ikaleland comprises communities in Okitipupa and Irele Local Government Areas of Ondo State.

Oba Faduyile who gave the commendation on behalf of other traditional rulers during a courtesy visit to the governor in his office, observed that regular payment of salaries including offsetting of six months arrears owed by the past government improved the standard of living of workers while it has also contributed to socioeconomic activities in the state.

This is coming as Governor Akeredolu reiterated the commitment of his administration to ensure payment of Ondo pensioners’ gratuities.

The monarch added that some of the Obas and their subjects who are retirees are beneficiaries of the regular payment.

“Another great achievement of your government is the commitment to rehabilitate deplorable roads in the state in general and particularly the small stretch of road linking Oluwa bridge in Ayeka with Irele town. This small stretch of flooded area of less than 300 metres had been an impediment to the transportation of  people and materials across the distance which the last administration of the state celebrated as an insurmountable feat, ” the monarch said.

He further lauded the governor for his neutrality in the selection process of qualified persons for the posts of Obas in the domains where vacancies exist, explaining that the development has brought about peaceful installations of Obas in their respective domains since his administration came on board.

The monarchs used their visit to assure the governor of the readiness of the traditional rulers and the people of Ikaleland to continue to support his administration’s developmental strides which have brought succour to the people and ensure socio-economic development of the state.

“Our major problem is finance, but we have been able to double our Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) which has enabled us to do other things. We have made sure that our workers are paid their wages while we look for other sources to do some other things,” the governor stressed.

Akeredolu also revealed that the Ore flyover project would be completed before December this year and promised to look into the request of the traditional rulers for roads rehabilitation in their communities.
