Ondo state government yesterday assured users of Ikun/Afo/Idoani road that they would start enjoying the road by December 7th 2018 as the reconstruction of the two collapsed bridges that linked the communities will soon be completed.

Disclosing this was the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure at the construction site of the bridges, Mr. Taofeek Abdusallam while on a monitoring tour to the ongoing construction projects in the Northern senatorial district of the State along with the Special Adviser to the governor on Works, Infrastructure and Lands, Mr. Raimi Aminu.

Abdusallam affirmed that the project is being executed by Engineers in the ministry with the assurance that they would deliver a quality job.

According to him, the ministry is full of competent Engineers that are capable to handle the project rather than expending huge amount to hire foreign contractors while the state has the needed manpower at its disposal.

He however solicited the community’s continuous support for the governor and the government of the day, and also ensure that the security of workers on the site is guaranteed.

Corroborating the assurance given by the commissioner about the quality of the project, Aminu said from lay man’s and the professional view, the quality of the concrete has indicated that the project is of quality.

“This road is 21km length, very important to the people of this community, the first bridge is 3/3 culvert, we diverted the water in the second location. We discovered every location is rocky, and  there is no way this terrain can accommodate 3/3 double size culvert and considering the volume of the water, because we came here when the rain was at peak, we now decided that we needed to design a bridge.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr Taiwo Otun, an Engineer, thanked the governor for the opportunity afforded the ministry to execute the project, noting that the Engineers in the ministry have developed themselves and are capable to handle any construction job.

The Olukun of Ikun Akoko, Oba Michael Adedoyin thanked the governor for his quick response and prayed that God gives him more grace to execute more projects across the state.
