The Chairman of Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State, Mr. Maurice Oripenaiye, has presented a budget estimate of ₦6,178,694,215.73 for the 2025 fiscal year, with a special focus on education and the provision of social amenities for the people of the council area.

Presenting the budget proposal tagged “Budget for Sustainable Growth” before members of the legislative council at the local government secretariat in Igbokoda, the chairman explained that the estimate was prepared in line with Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s administration’s policy aimed at alleviating poverty in the state.

He noted that the 2025 budget proposal is the first to be presented since he assumed office as the elected chairman of the council a few months ago.

He appreciated the governor for providing what he described as a robust administrative system in the state, devoid of nepotism, favoritism, and undue influence.

He also paid glowing tribute to the governor for his commitment and determination in ensuring that local governments in the state occupy a place of pride among their counterparts in other states of the federation.

Oripenaiye equally acknowledged the people of the council for their trust in him and other members of his administration, appreciating their understanding, endurance, and sacrifice during the period of economic hardship occasioned by the removal of fuel subsidy by the Federal Government.

The local government helmsman further stated that the budget proposal was carefully prepared to address challenges in key sectors such as education, health, and agriculture, as well as to ensure the provision of basic amenities.

He disclosed that a total of ₦90 million has been earmarked for projects including the construction and renovation of school buildings, and the provision of furniture and learning equipment, among others.

He solicited the support of the legislators, saying that such collaboration would enable them to work as a united force to bring joy and prosperity to the people of the local government.

The ceremony, held at the council chamber within the local government secretariat in Igbokoda, was attended by politicians from the local government, members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), local government staff, and community leaders led by the Amapetu of Mahin, Oba Segun William Akinyomi, among others.
