Ileya Unity Football Competition: IASFC knock out Sunshine Stars U-17

Ijapo Ages Stars Football Club (IASFC) on Friday knocked out the Sunshine Stars U-17 team at the ongoing 2024 Ileya Unity Football competition played at the Ondo State Sports Complex, Akure.
The second match of the four-day football competition, sponsored by the Minister of Youth, Olawande Ayodele, saw Moses Falade net a screamer for the Ijapo-based side a few minutes before the end of the first half of the entertaining encounter.
Ijapo Ages Stars FC controlled the pulsating tie from the blast of the referee’s whistle to the end.
The second half of the game failed to produce further goals as Ijapo Ages were unable to convert from the spot after Oluwafemi Kolawole was fouled inside the box 18.
The Ijapo boys kept a clean sheet for the remainder of the game as they moved to the next level of the competition.
Meanwhile, Emergency FC, representing Akure North, had earlier lost 1-0 to Olukayode FC Akoko in the opening match. Lions Stars FC, representing Ondo West, defeated Idanre United 3-1 in a penalty shootout after they played to a barren draw in regulation time.
It was 2-0 in favor of FJ FA (Ondo East) over Health FC (Akoko). Waxing FC (Odigbo) defeated Weli Weli FC (Owo) 1-0, and Victory Lion (Ile-Oluji) lost 3-1 to ShopRite FC Ifedore LGA in a penalty shootout.
