An Ondo State-based Pastor Bayonle Ologun who allegedly operates an illegal and fake orphanage home, and swindled members of the society, has been remanded in correctional centre, by an Ado-Ekiti Magstrates’ Court’.
Magistrate K.O Awosika, ordered the remand of the cleric for swindling five persons through his fake orphanage home.
Ologun, is the Founder of a Pentecostal Church based in Ayegunle area of Oka-Akoko, in Akoko South-West local government area.
According to the charge, the cleric was alleged to have sponsored a radio jingle soliciting supports from prospective members of the public to assist his ministry in developing the fake orphanage home some times in 2017 .
It was learnt that the alleged radio jingle, aired on a popular radio station in the State had attracted many unsuspecting members of the public who approached the cleric for possible adoption of some of the orphans so as to help the orphanage.
The cat was, however, let out of the bag a year after the programme, when victims approached the producer of the programme that they had paid various sums for adoption of children from the orphanage without fruitful result.
The Pastor was accused of gathering stray children to pose as inmates of his non-existing orphanage home.
Those victims include,one Mrs. Olusola Balogun from Lagos, whom he swindled N550,000; Sister Ruth from Lagos –N600,000; Mrs. Ogunleye from Ado-Ekiti –N600,000; Mr. Okunola from Ado Ekiti – N650,000; Mrs. Bamisile from Aramoko Ekiti – N350,000 and others.
The deluge of complaints from the victims to the radio producer backed with evidence of payment forced the producer to report the matter to the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Dare Ogundare, who ordered the arrest of the suspect.
