The alumni association expressed their appreciation during the 50th reunion event, held at Imade College in Owo .
Speaking through its worldwide president, Isiaka Kareem, the association thanked the Governor for recognising Adelami’s worthiness for the esteemed position.
In a statement by the Spokesperson to the Deputy Governor, John Paul Akinduro, Kareem highlighted Adelami’s outstanding contributions to the development of his alma mater as the reason for bestowing upon him an award of excellence.
The 1979 set coordinator, Tunde Owadimbola, remarked that the school has produced many eminent personalities who are now captains of industry and senior public office holders, including the current Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Olayide Adelami.
He noted, “Imade College is more than just a school; it is a foundation that instils in its students core moral values such as discipline, honesty, resilience, and hard work.”
Owadimbola described the reunion as a celebration of hope, empathy, friendship, and shared values.
Appreciating the alumni association for the honour, the Deputy Governor stated that Governor Aiyedatiwa prioritises education and considers it a powerful tool for breaking generational poverty.
“The Governor acknowledges the role of alumni associations in promoting quality education among young people. On behalf of the other awardees, I thank IMACOSA for this accolade and promise to continue contributing to my alma mater,” Adelami assured.
A member of the Aionian group of schools, Imade College was founded in March 1946 as the first post-primary school in Owo and one of the first-generation colleges in what is now Ondo State.
