Ondo State Head of Service, Mr Dare Aragbaiye has admonished civil servants in the state to change their orientation to work and imbibe the spirit of Ondo State Improvement Programme OSIP in the discharge of their duties for improved productivity.
He gave the admonition on the occasion of the Pen’s down ceremony of the Permanent Secretary of Ondo State Agribusiness Empowerment Centre OSAEC, Barr Toboukepere Iwabi and a Confidential Secretary at the centre, Mrs Bolanle Ayodele and the launching of a book titled “A Handbook on Modern Techniques for Effective Performance in the Public Service” written by Barr Iwabi.
According to him, OSIP is the new civil service reform that has just been developed which is about leadership and the need to give the best in the service.
Aragbaiye who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Office of Establishment and Training, Office of the Head of Service, Mr Victor Olajorin said leadership is in individual and advised that punctuality, dedication to service among others should be the watchword of every civil servant.
While commending the virtues of Barr Iwabi who according to him has no blemish in his record and did not change his date of birth as others would have loved to do, he called on others to emulate him.
While speaking on his book, Aragbaiye said he has added value to the public service of the state, assured that he would always be invited to make presentation and instructed Public Service Training Institute (PSTI) to take his documents and use him as a consultant in the institute.
He also instructed PSTI to invite him to make a presentation to the sector of the service on his new book without delay.
He also commended the diligence and hardwork of Mrs Ayodele who he said had passion and love for her work and prayed that they would both live long to enjoy the fruits of their labour.
In his goodwill message, Senior Special Assistant to the State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu on Agric and Agribusiness, Pastor Akin Olotu congratulated Barr Iwabi for attaining such a lofty height in his noble profession of public service.
He described his book as a plus for Ondo state and a way of giving back to the civil service as it would be a source of information to those coming behind.
Iwabi who could not hide his joy attributed the success he recorded in the service to patience, perseverance, diligence and sense of focus and direction.
He said he was prompted to write on modern techniques for effective performance in the public service be it at the Federal, state, or local government because of his experience in the 25years of working in service.
Also, Mrs Ayodele who was grateful to God for making the day a reality advised civil servants in the state to cooperate with government as regards the new reform and put in their best for the benefit of all.
The book reviewer, Mr Igbekele Jatuase noted that the book is on effective techniques from the perspective of human beings since the management of machines and computers lies with man.
Jatuase, a director in the state civil service and chairman of Chartered Institute of Personnel Management CIPM added that human beings must apply these machines to bring about effectiveness and efficiency and reduce cost of production without reducing the quality of production.
The duo of Mrs Funmilayo Iwabi and Mrs Wariegbe Iwabi Ojumu, wife and daughter of Barr Iwabi respectively appreciated God for seeing him through the rigours of the civil service and helped him to attain the pinnacle of his career.
