The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced the commencement of a Post-Amnesty Voluntary Return and Documentation Programme (PAVRDP) for foreign nationals who failed to take advantage of the recently concluded visa amnesty initiative.
According to a statement signed by ACI AS Akinlabi, Service Public Relations Officer at the NIS Headquarters in Abuja, the post-amnesty programme officially began on October 13, 2025. The initiative aims to provide a structured opportunity for affected foreign nationals to voluntarily report to the nearest Immigration Command for registration and documentation.
The statement explained that each individual’s case will be assessed on a case-by-case basis in line with the provisions of the Immigration Act, 2015, and related regulations to determine appropriate actions.
The NIS further warned that any foreign national who has violated the terms of their visa and fails to report for documentation will face arrest, detention, and deportation as stipulated by law, along with long-term entry bans.
Additionally, the Service cautioned individuals, companies, and organisations against aiding or employing foreigners who are in breach of immigration laws, stressing that such acts are punishable under existing regulations.
The Nigeria Immigration Service reaffirmed its commitment to promoting humane, seamless, and orderly migration, ensuring compliance with immigration laws, and enhancing national security through effective migration management.
