An Akure based gospel singer, Evang. Oluyemi Adeola popularly known as Yemi Adeola has said that gospel artistes must impact lives with their songs and preach the gospel of Jesus Christ through their songs.

The artiste during an interview with Friday Extravaganza said she dabbled into music due to the passion she has for it

“Actually, I have been singing since I was 2 years old, my mother do say that I do compose songs when I wanted to sleep.

“Men of God have been telling me that God want me to work for him but I thought people around me will think I dabbled into music because of laziness.”

“I can sing for hours, my first ministration was at a church on March, 2007 which I performed excellently and God manifested Himself in my ministration.”

She mentioned some of her mentors to include Evangelist Olubukola Akinade aka Sewele Jesu and Prophet Sam Olu Alo”, she added.

The artiste who hails from Isarun, Ondo State, said that her family really supported her in her chosen career.

According to her, she mentioned some of the challenges she faced when she started singing to include the problem of finance.

In her words, “I have the full support of my family, They know the type of person I am.  They knew it was not laziness that pushed me into singing”.

“In music industry, there are lot of challenges which include the issue of money, marketing and people around me.

“It is not easy to see people who will believe in your dreams and visions and this is the reason some marketers see themselves as mini gods.

“Nothing is possible in music industry without money.  For instance, you must have cash to go for concerts or else you will walk home after the concerts.  To produce an album and to market the album, you need money”.

She urged upcoming artists to wait on God and  give themselves to prayers.

“Wait upon the Lord and do not rush because there is time for everything in life. Also, you should run away from things or act that is not of God.

“Be prayerful, if you do not pray you cannot have breakthrough”.

In addition, she urged upcoming artistes not to run anyone down financially due to selfish interest.
