Impeachment: Exercise in futility — D-Gov

By Adekola Afolabi

In a swift reaction, the embattled deputy governor, Agboola Ajayi, described the impeachment notice as an exercise in futility.
According to Ajayi who spoke through his spokesperson, Babatope Okeowo, said although he hs not been served with the impeachment notice, the House of Assembly would need two-third majority of the lawmakers to impeach him.
“The deputy governor has not been served with any impeachment notice, but like every other person in the country we have been hearing impeachment notice signed by 14 out of the 26 members of the House of Assembly, and nine members have dissociated themselves from the exercise.
“So the exercise is dead on arrival because you need 18 members to impeach either the governor or the deputy governor, ” he said.
