Inauguration: APC defends Aiyedatiwa’s vision, berates opposition over criticism

The Ondo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed criticisms from opposition parties, including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Social Democratic Party (SDP), regarding the expectations for the incoming administration of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, who is set to be sworn in on Monday.
Director of Media and Publicity, APC Ondo State, Mr. Steve Otaloro, in a statement, described the opposition’s stance as baseless and a reflection of their disconnect from the aspirations of the people.
He noted that Aiyedatiwa’s overwhelming victory in the last governorship election reaffirmed the electorate’s confidence in his leadership and the progressive agenda of the APC.
“It is disheartening to see opposition elements engaging in unfounded claims instead of recognising the will of the people. The landslide victory of Governor Aiyedatiwa is a testament to the trust reposed in him by the good people of Ondo State,” Otaloro stated.
He reiterated that Aiyedatiwa’s administration is committed to building on the solid foundation laid by his predecessor, with a governance model anchored on transparency, accountability, and inclusivity.
He also highlighted some key achievements under the APC government, which, he said, were indicative of a bright future for the state.
Otaloro outlined the significant strides recorded by the APC government in various sectors, noting that infrastructure development remains a priority.
According to him, road construction and rehabilitation projects have been undertaken to enhance economic growth and improve the living standards of residents.
He further stated that the administration has invested heavily in the education sector, improving school facilities, recruiting teachers, and expanding access to quality education.
In the health sector, he noted that hospitals have been renovated, medical equipment provided, and health initiatives introduced to cater to the populace.
On youth empowerment, Otaloro revealed that several programmes have been launched to equip young people with entrepreneurial skills, facilitate job creation, and support start-ups.
He also noted that the government’s focus on agriculture has boosted food security, created jobs, and stimulated economic growth, with farmers receiving resources and training to enhance productivity.
Security, he added, remains a key priority, as the administration has bolstered the operations of Amotekun, in addition to collaborating with federal security agencies to ensure peace and stability in the state. The APC, he said, has also pioneered innovative initiatives in the energy sector to drive development.
As Aiyedatiwa prepares to assume office officially, Otaloro urged the opposition to embrace constructive criticism and collaboration rather than resorting to baseless attacks.
“The expectations of the people of Ondo State are high, and we are committed to meeting and exceeding them through diligent service and innovative governance,” he assured.
He called on all stakeholders, including opposition parties, to join hands with the APC-led government in moving the state forward, emphasising that only collective efforts could ensure sustainable progress for the people.
