Inauguration: Police restrict movement around venue

Ondo State Police command has ordered the restriction of VIP escorts from the venue of inauguration of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and his Deputy, Dr. Olayide Adelami.
According to a statement made public on Sunday by the command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Funmilayo Odunlami, the Police Commissioner, Wilfred Afolabi directed that such escorts could remain around the stadium perimeter in designated areas.
The statement also advised commuters who regularly use routes around the venue to take alternative routes for ease of movement and reduce congestion while vehicle owners who usually park around the stadium area are strongly advised to park in safer locations to avoid damage, congestion, or obstruction on the road.
The statement reads, “ As part of the security measures, escorts attached to VIPs will not be permitted to enter the venue with rifles. However, they may remain around the stadium perimeter in designated areas.
“Also, commuters who regularly use routes around the venue are advised to take alternative routes for ease of movement and reduce congestion while vehicle owners who usually park around stadium area are strongly advised to park in safer locations to avoid damage, congestion, or obstruction on the road.
“All security agencies will be on ground to enforce compliance with these guidelines while we urge the good people of the state to align with the guidelines to ensure a secure and orderly event.”
