‘Industrialisation, antidote for sustainable devt’

Ondo State House of Assembly has described industrialisation as one of the antidotes for sustainable development in the nation.

It therefore assured of its continued support to every initiative towards industrial revolution for sustainable development of the State.

The House Committee On Commerce and Industry led by its Chairman, Felix Afe stated this during a visit to Araromi Ayesan Oil Palm PLC, and Rubber Estate Nigeria Limited at Araromi Obu in Odigbo Local Government Area of the State.

The Committee appreciated the founding fathers of the industry for the investment of over 60 years which the State is still benefiting from, charging the management of the company to continue to live up to expectations in the State.

Members of the committee noted that the oil palm industry is significant to the nation’s economy hence the need for all hands to continue to be on deck.

While responding to the challenges of the company, they said measures would be put in place to tackle inadequate manpower and security issues.

The Lawmakers equally reminded the companies of its prompt social responsibility to the host community.

They lauded the Managements of the companies for their determination to increase the revenue output of the State, urging them to utilize the potential for overall development .

Earlier, the General Manager of the company, Mr Olusola Ikumawoyi who reeled out the achievements and challenges of the company to the committee, pointed out that the Oil Palm Industry is a highly lucrative business, noting that one of the industries that has the potentials to eradicate poverty in rural communities as a result of its high need of manual labour requirements.

According to him, the challenges of the company include, security, shortage of man power, among others.

Ikumawoyi commended the effort of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu in revamping the industry and providing enabling environment for investors to thrive.

The Business Performance Manager, Rubber Estate, Mr Bakary Onakara, who represented the Managing Director of the company, Mr Olivier Odoukou reeled out their activities and challenges, stating that the company is a socially responsible one.

He stressed that the host community and the company has a robust relationship which has helped the growth of the company where the State is a shareholder.
