Industrialisation ‘ll reduce insecurity – Akingboye

From Fasusi Martins, Okitipupa

An entrepreneur, Otunba Bamidele Akingboye has said insecurity in the country  will be reduced to the barest minimum if adequate attention is given  to industrialization by government at all levels.

Akingboye, who is also a governorship aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) stated this in Okitipupa while declaring his intention to contest the governorship election in the state .

He however commended the State Governor, Arakunrin  Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for his economic initiative towards the legal cultivation of cannabis for commercial and medicinal value in boosting the internally generated revenue of the state.

His words: “I don’t have sentiment for business that will bring good governance to the state,  I don’t see anything wrong with it,  it is business, it is commerce and give the governor kudos ”

He listed tourism development as a way of generating funds for the state if properly harnessed.

“I don’t have to think about what it takes to govern the state,  we all have what it takes.”

” Ondo State is the only state in Africa that has about 147km virgin shore line,  I will declare state of emergency in that sector by building a world class tourist centre that will generate massive revenue for the state. ”

“Our bitumen which is the second largest in the world will be given proper attention,  I will invest in agriculture,  I will  equally invest in education by declaring total free and compulsory education from primary school to tertiary level ” he said.

He stressed that his administration would initiate policies and programmes that would stimulate economic growth and development as well as job creation for the youths.

He vowed to reposition the education sector if given the opportunity.

Speaking on the possibility of PDP winning the state, he said PDP remains a party to  beat in the state with a united platform to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people.

“PDP is ready for the election in the state and as a person, I am fully ready and prepared for the contest. I have contested once, and I am still ready, willing and able to contest again.

“My passion for the state and the people is the inspiration encouraging me to contest again”, he said.
