Inferno caused by power surge – CP

The Ondo State Police Commissioner, Mr Bolaji Salami has said that last Thursday’s fire outbreak at the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC office in Akure was as a result of faulty electrical Connection.
Salami dropped this hints at a press conference at the police headquarters. He said the reports conducted by Ondo state fire service authority revealed that it was caused by electrical fault which burnt the two containers housing Smart card reader machines.
He said the release of the report of investigation by fire service had removed insinuations that the fire was an act a sabotage.
He told reporters that the destroyed Smart Card reader machines were estimated to be about N30million.
He warned all the political gladiators to toe the path of peace or be ready to face the full weight of the law.
The police commissioner said the command was on aggressive patrol and surveillance to ensure that those who were fond of destroying parties billboards across the state were apprehended and punished appropriately.
He maintained that every political party has equal right to go about its campaign as police have provided adequate security for all just as he called on those planning to cause trouble in the state to have a rethink.
