Inferno razes shops in Ondo, destroys goods worth millions

An early morning fire outbreak on Tuesday ravaged no fewer than ten shops in Ore, the headquarters of Odigbo Local Government area in Ondo State, destroying goods and property worth millions of naira.

The inferno, which broke out opposite Mhogambo Super Hotel, Ore, gutted provision stores, phone accessories outlets, and other businesses.

According to eyewitnesses, the exact cause of the fire is believed to be an electrical surge.

Shop owners, who were seen lamenting their losses, have called on the state government for immediate assistance, as their only sources of livelihood have been wiped out.

Our correspondent, who visited the scene, gathered that Fire Service officials quickly swung into action to quench the fire before it could spread further, preventing additional destruction.

The incident has left many traders in distress, with some losing their entire stock and means of livelihood.

The state government has been urged to provide assistance to the affected traders to help them recover from the loss.
