Influencing Supreme Court judgment, blatant lies- Osun APC

From Fisayo Akinduro, Osogbo

The All Progressives Congress, APC, Osun state chapter has described the rumour of influencing the ongoing governorship legal battle at the Supreme Court as a lie.

The party chairman, Prince Gboyega Famodun disclosed this in a statement signed by his media consultant, Kola Olabisi and made available to newsmen in Osogbo.

Famodun said APC would never do anything untoward to influence the decision of the Supreme Court in the ongoing legal battle for the governorship seat in the state.

The party chairman who accused the  promoters of the story as trying  to be clever by half added that they only grossly succeeded in displaying their ignorance and lack of decency and finesse in media warfare.

He said, the APC still believes in the divine power of God Almighty that has been fighting the ongoing governorship legal battle for the party, stressing that God is not interested in sharing the credit of His blessings with any other entity.

“We, in the APC, don’t believe in cutting corner to fight for our rights. In fact, it is not in our character to do that whether now or in the nearest future.

“For the fact that our party controls the centre cannot be a passport for us to engage in illegality in the pursuit of our rights.

“The  reason for using media stratagem by the suspected Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, hatchet writers on the ongoing governorship issue is to justify and prepare a soft-landing for their imminent defeat at the Supreme Court. The contextual meaning and implication of the essay elucidates and exposes the fact that it is the stock in trade of the PDP to influence judicial decision(s) whenever a case is in its favour.

“It’s too late in the day for us in the APC to now acquire a negative attribute unknown to the founding fathers of the party”, he explained.

It would be recalled that an online publication recently published a story that went viral, saying that an Osun APC delegation went to Asiwaju  Bola Ahmed Tinubu in his Abuja residence, telling him to intervene in the governorship case currently at the Supreme Court with a view to influence the Justices to give their verdict in favour of the APC.

Famodun disclosed that there was no iota of truth in the cooked up story which intention is to discredit the APC and lower the professional reputation and integrity of the revered justices of the Supreme Court.

The party helmsman said the content of the story in question was a product of irresponsible journalism and propaganda taken too far with a view to threatening the nation’s jealously guided democratic experience.

“It is unfathomable that a writer or a group of disgruntled elements all in the name of playing politics will just wake up from the wrong side of their beds and begin to manufacture negative stories against their political opponents.”

He said the party believes in the rule of law and never will it undermine same to fight for its rights.
