Innovations to enhance civil service underway – ODSG

Ondo State government says it is coming up with some innovations aimed at enhancing efficiency and speedy operations of the civil service for development.
The Head of Service, Pastor Kayode Ogundele gave the hint in Akure when he received members of the State House of Assembly Committee on Human Capital Development in his office
The Committee was on familiarization visit to the office of the Head of Service.
Ogundele said his office is all about human capital development in ensuring that all sectors of the economy are performing.
Highlighting some of the plans to include a digitalized Human Resource (HR) platform with remita, the HOS said the process is underway and will make way for transparency in the system.
He explained that the process will dash out the payroll system where most civil servants complain about many issues.
On recruitment criterion, Ogundele advised young individuals who wish to work in the State civil service to acquaint themselves with basic computer skills, noting that the State is joining other countries of the world to drive its economy on ICT.
On promotion, Ogundele said civil servants would be made to go for training immediately they are promoted during next promotion exercise.
He added that the new reform offices are expected to see civil servants in the state performing at their best as it is expected to fix the aspects of bureaucracy slowing development.
Responding, the Chairman of the Committee Olatunji Oshati while commending the HoS for the innovative steps, he described workers as the engine room of government, stressing that there is the need for continuous training and retaining of workers for optimal performance.
He also appreciated Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for prioritizing the welfare of workers in the State.
Others assured that the house will continue to support the office with legislative provisions so that the workforce will keep on delivering.
