Insecurity: Ex-Ondo commissioner, Takuro, hails Aiyedatiwa on proactive steps

By Fisayo Akinduro

A former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in Ondo State, Mr Amidu Takuro, has commended Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, for his prompt and strategic intervention in tackling the rising wave of insecurity across parts of the state.

Takuro, in an interview with Weekend Hope, hailed the deployment of 115 military personnel to volatile communities in the Akoko axis of the state and its adjoining areas, describing the move as a decisive action that had begun to restore normalcy in the affected areas.

He noted that prior to the intervention, residents had been gripped by fear following recurring incidents of kidnapping, armed robbery, and other violent crimes, which had disrupted social and economic activities.

He, however, applauded the governor for reinforcing the Ondo State arm of the Southwest Security Network, otherwise known as Amotekun, which in collaboration with other security agencies, “flushed out the hoodlums from our bushes and trenches.”

“Again, the deployment of 115 military personnel to security flashpoints reflects the governor’s commitment to the protection of lives and property.

“The swift response has brought a palpable sense of relief and restored a measure of peace to the area,” Takuro said.

The former commissioner urged the state government to sustain its collaboration with the security agencies, while calling on residents to provide necessary intelligence reports that would enhance the effectiveness of ongoing operations.

He also stressed the need for synergy between the government and traditional institutions in consolidating the gains recorded so far in the fight against insecurity.

In addition, Takuro solicited the full support and prayers of Ondo residents for the Aiyedatiwa administration, noting that all indications pointed to the fact that the governor would exceed their expectations, both in infrastructural development and human empowerment.

“Already, there is clear evidence of physical development in various infrastructural projects such as road rehabilitation and construction; upgrading of healthcare facilities, improvement in education through facility upgrade and massive teachers’ recruitment, and allocation of billions of Naira to support the less-privileged to become entrepreneurs,” he applauded.

Meanwhile, Takuro congratulated the Olowo of Owo, Oba Ajibade Ogunoye, on his emergence as the Chairman of the Ondo State Council of Obas.

Describing the monarch as a symbol of peace and development, he expressed confidence in the traditional ruler’s capacity to galvanise royal fathers across the state towards promoting unity, stability, and grassroots security.

He also said Oba Ogunoye’s elevation to the leadership of the council was timely and would further enhance coordination among traditional institutions in the collective effort to safeguard communities.
