Osun State residents have been urged to share timely, credible information and intelligence that would help curb insecurity in the state.

Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, in the state  Emmanuel Ocheja made the call during the 2022 International Civil Defence Day, held in Osogbo.

March 1 has been set aside for the celebration of International Civil Defence Day by all member states of International Civil Defence Organisation (ICDO) across the globe.

The theme of 2022 celebration is: “Civil Defence and Management of Displaced Population in Face of Disaster and Crisis, Role of Volunteers and the Fight Against Pandemics”.

The State Commandant posited that timely information sharing and intelligence would aid the command in operating a safe and secure security apparatus that would tame all negative vices in the state.

“I believe if we are able to share proactive information, some of these miscreants, hoodlums and mischievous individuals causing mayhem, would be tamed, and the state will be safe and free for all,” he said.

Ocheja noted that the synergy between security agencies and the public was paramount in helping to curb criminal activities and maintaining law and order in a society.

He, however, said the command would not relent in carrying out its established mandate, which  was protection of lives and property within its area of mandate.

Meanwhile, a novelty match took place on Monday, February 28, 2022, between the Commandant’s team and the team of the Second-in- Command (2ic)Team, where the Commandant’s team cruised to victory by four (4) goals to three (3).

He urged Nigerians to embrace sports and aerobic exercises to keep them fit physically.

According to him, “when you engage in sporting activities, your health will improve, and you are likely to spend less on drugs. Sports ensure longevity.”
