Insecurity: Ondo PDP calls for community policing

By Jubril Bada

The Ondo State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, has stressed the need for communities in the country to develop their home grown security through the use of hunters to confront the rampant insecurity in Nigeria.
The State Secretary of the party, Mr. Oluseye Olujimi, who made the call during a radio programme on Radio Nigeria in Akure, the State capital said employment of another security strategy would help the country in tackling kidnapping, banditry, insurgency and farmers/herders crisis, among others.
He explained that if Agbekoya, Oodua People’s Congress, OPC, and other security outfits in other parts of the country could be employed for internal security, would enhance security of lives and property of people in each region.
Olujimi, who attributed insecurity to leadership problem in the country said tribalism and religion are not causes of insecurity in Nigeria but the selfishness of leaders.
According to him, despite five religions being practised in China, which include Buddhism, Catholism, Taoism, Islam and Protestantism china was able to manage itself also the same thing with United States of America, which have more than three religions.
He said ” The problem we are having is the selfishness of our leaders for their personal interest and benefits.
“Interest of political parties in Nigeria should be majorly for the people and get things right on how to cater for them.
“As a result of the selfishness of our leaders people are instigated against each other”
