Insecurity: Ooni assures of end to herdsmen menace

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi has assured Nigerians that the country’s traditional institution has devised means through which the criminals among the Fulani herdsmen behind the menace of insecurity in Yoruba land and other parts of the country will be kicked out soon.
Ogunwusi gave the assurance during the courtesy visit of the Emir of Borgu, Alhaji Muhammed Haliru Dantoro, Kitoro IV, to his Ile-Oodua Palace at Ile-Ife.
While decrying the spate of killings, kidnappings, cattle rustling and other banditry activities in the country especially in Yorubaland, he explained that the hoodlums were on a mission to dent the country’s good image especially as Nigerians are renowned peace lovers.
The monarch who noted that what has been happening in Yoruba land recently is alien, said “we will work towards bringing sanity to our communities, people should not live in fear, but should have that freedom to move from one point to the other.
“Nigeria is our country and we are aware of all security issues confronting us, we know how everybody is panicking, it is about time for us to separate the corn from the shaft.”
Earlier, the Emir of Borgu, Alhaji Muhammed Haliru Dantoro, Kitoro IV, while acknowledging the effort of the Ooni and other traditional custodians across the country emphasized the need for traditional rulers to remain committed to the unity and oneness of the country.
