Ipele community celebrates Oba Daramola as new Olupele in grand cultural ceremony

The agrarian community of Ipele in Owo East Local Council Development area of Ondo State came to a standstill as eminent personalities from around the globe gathered to witness the presentation of appointment and staff of office to the new Olupele, His Royal Majesty, Oba Samuel Oluwashola Daramola (Ujadiminegha Amuludero I), who has been installed as the 20th first-class monarch.
The epoch-making ceremony was characterised by a vibrant display of the community’s rich cultural heritage, providing entertainment for the guests. Residents donned various regalia to showcase their cultural values, filling the atmosphere with excitement and joy as the revered king smiled at the festivities.
Numerous social and cultural groups, alongside local schools, paid homage to the monarch, contributing to the celebratory mood as the town buzzed with happiness. The event took place at St Stephen Anglican Church field.
The Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, was represented by his deputy, Dr. Olayide Adelami, who joined the Ipele community in celebrating this historic occasion. He prayed that the town continues to enjoy sustained peace, asserting that the monarch’s appointment was divine.

He urged Oba Daramola to wield his power with restraint, noting that the staff of office should be used to foster peace and harmony.
Dr. Adelami highlighted the importance of collaboration among all community members to support the monarch in driving progress. He called on the populace to contribute meaningfully, rally around the king, and prioritise the community’s interests over personal gains.
The deputy governor praised the peace-loving nature of the community and the law-abiding conduct of political figures before, during, and after the November 16th gubernatorial election.
In his acceptance speech, Oba Daramola expressed gratitude to all who attended the ceremony, stating, “During my reign, our culture and traditions will be preserved, respected, and honoured.”
He proclaimed that the day marks a new beginning for the kingdom, urging everyone to join in the celebration.
Addressing the youth, he recognised their vital role in the community’s aspirations, encouraging them to align their energy with the cherished traditions and culture.
He also commended the Aiyedatiwa-led government for its developmental strides across the state and urged authorities to address the pressing needs of the community, including improvements to roads, health facilities, and the restoration of electricity in Ipele, which has experienced outages for three years.

Earlier, Hon. Amidu Takuro, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, urged the new monarch to embrace inclusivity and seek cooperation from all community members, including other chieftaincy candidates, to elevate the town to greater heights.
The event attracted dignitaries from various sectors, including Governor Aiyedatiwa’s, represented by his deputy, Dr. Olayide Adelami, Hon. Amidu Takuro, Prince Olatunbosun Aganun, Chairman of the Owo East LCDA Transition Committee, as well as numerous traditional rulers and chiefs from the Ipele and it environs.
