Following the deplorable condition of roads in Ipele/ldoani, Elegbeka and Ifon axis of Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State, an assurance has been given that temporary solution would soon be provided to make the roads motorable again.
Giving the assurance shortly after the maiden parliamentary meeting of the House of Assembly Members, the Speaker of the House, Olamide Oladiji, expressed concern over the terrible condition of the road, assuring that necessary things would be done to fix it as soon as possible.
Oladiji explained that despite the fact that the roads belong to the Federal Government, Ondo State Government through the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure would continue to make life comfortable for individuals by making sure that all roads leading to the State are motorable.
While calling on the people in the areas to be patient as all efforts are in top gear to ameliorate their sufferings on the road, the Lawmakers unanimously invited the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Mr Raimi Aminu to the House with a view to finding alternative solution to the lingering deplorable condition of the road.
Earlier, the lawmaker representing Ose Constituency, Olatunji Oshatti had expressed concern over the poor condition of the road, calling on the Federal Government to as a matter of urgency find a lasting solution to it.
Oshatti, who described the condition of the road as unfortunate, sympathized with its users, assuring that the difficulty they are currently facing on the road would soon become a thing of the past.
Worried by these ugly incidents, Chairman, Ose Local Government Area, Prince Dennis Adekunle, who visited the spots for assessment said the situation is terrible and pathetic.
He called on Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA) to urgently come to the aid of road users by repairing all the failed portions before total reconstruction of the roads in Ose Local Government Area.
While emphasizing the urgency of the situation, he said now that farmers are approaching harvest period, he called on FERMA to repair the bad roads before the local government is totally cut off from the rest of the country.
In a related development, the House through its Speaker has assured the communities that were recently affected by floods in Akure South Local Government Area of the State that urgent and immediate intervention would soon be carried out in order to prevent the incessant annual flooding.
Oladiji who spoke on behalf of other Parliamentarians appreciated the acting Governor of Ondo State, Mr Lucky Aiyedatiwa for his visit to the areas affected by the flood in Akure, the State capital.
Speaking earlier, the lawmaker representing Akure South Constituency 1, Olajide Oguntoju called on the State government to as a matter of urgency find a lasting solution to the annual flooding, lamenting that many people in the communities had lost valuable properties and lives to the flood.
Oguntoju who later charged the government of the State not to relent on its efforts of bringing smiles to the faces of individuals through its various laudable programmes, appealed to residents to always maintain clean environment and desist from indiscriminate dumping of waste into drains ,streams or rivers, particularly on the passage of ‘Ala River’.
Some of the affected communities were: Leo, Ayedun, High School, Isolo, Araromi Oshodi, Bethel Estate Oba-Ile among others.
