The Chairman, Irele Local Government, Mr Olusegun Ajimotokin has approved the Bursary award for indigenes of the council in tertiary institutions across Nigeria.
He said the payment of the bursary to Irele Local Government students despite the economic hardship in the State and the country as a whole was a demonstration of his commitment to the human capital development.
Ajimotokin added that it was to encourage the students for optimal academic excellence in their respective institutions.
He noted that his administration recognizes the pivotal role education plays in defining the growth and advancement of the local government, hence the need for the payment of the bursary award.
The council boss added that his government is committed to ensuring that indigenes of the local government are empowered, through education, to contribute productively to the local and global economies.
The Bursary payment, according to the Chairman would commence next month.
Meanwhile, Corps members in the area have been charged to keep the flag of the scheme flying by contributing positively to the development of local governments and Nigeria at large.
Ajimotokin gave the charge while meeting the new Corps Members posted to the area.
He enjoined the Corps Members to allow the lessons of selflessness and humility learned at the orientation camp guide them during their service year.
He urged them to deploy the high level of discipline, dedication, and patriotism infused in them throughout their school years and also at the orientation camp to their respective places of primary assignment.
