The Chairman of Irele Local Government area in Ondo State, Deacon Olajide Akinfe, has emphasised the need for traditional institutions in the area to support government initiatives, stating that such collaboration will accelerate development in their respective communities.

The council chairman, accompanied by the former Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning in Ondo State, Pastor Emmanuel Igbasan, made the remarks at the weekend during a courtesy visit to the palace of the Ahaba of Ajagba in Irele Local Government, Oba Thomas Oluwole Adesayo.

Describing traditional institutions as vital tools for development in any democratic setting, Akinfe commended the monarchs in the local government for their support of his administration.

He assured the monarchs that all electioneering promises made during his campaign would be fulfilled in due time and appealed for their continued support to ensure the success of his administration.

The council boss also praised the first-class monarch for his fatherly role and contributions to the development of his community, the local government, and the Ikale land at large.

In his remarks, the former Commissioner, Pastor Igbasan, said he was at the Ahaba of Ajagba’s palace to express his gratitude for the monarch’s support during his tenure as Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning.

He described the monarch as a father figure and a pillar of support to both himself and other politicians in the area. Igbasan also urged the monarch and other traditional rulers in the council area to extend their support to the local government chairman, noting that such backing would help him achieve greater success in office.
