Islamic analyst urges moderation in Eid celebrations

By Sade Adewale

Islamic analyst Ibrahim Ismail has urged Muslims across the country to exercise moderation in their Eid celebrations and uphold the lessons of Ramadan.

In an interview with The Hope, Ismail emphasised that the essence of Eid is to sustain the good deeds cultivated during the holy month, describing Ramadan as a period of self-reformation, instilling selflessness and godliness.

He encouraged Muslims to rejoice in the completion of Ramadan while ensuring that its lessons are not lost in excessive celebrations.

“We should be modest in our celebrations and continue to extend love to others. Our kindness and service to humanity should not end with Ramadan but become a lifelong practice,” he said.

Ismail also called for sustained virtues such as self-purification, sacrifice, self-discipline, and compassion, stressing the importance of praying for the nation.

Commending women for their dedication in preparing meals and managing the home during Ramadan, he assured them that their sacrifices would be rewarded by Allah.

Additionally, he advised youths to shun negative behaviors, channel their energies positively, and contribute to national development.
