I welcome our readers to this edition. It is my prayers that the Word of God shall prevail in our situations in Jesus name.
What does it mean to prevail? To prevail is to be more powerful. Cambridge English Dictionary says it is to get control or influence in a particular situation. Webster says it is Triumph, it is to conquer and win. It is the will of God for us to prevail in life. In Jer 1:19, God says
“[19]They will fight you, but they will fail.
For I am with you, and I will take care of you.
I, the lord, have spoken!”
Prevail over what? we prevail over sin and it’s consequences Rom 6:14, we prevail over Satan and his fiery darts Eph 6: 16, we prevail over powers, principalities and dominion. Luke 10:19, we prevail over the wiles of the Wicked Eph 6: 11
Why do we need to prevail?
We need to prevail so that we will not become subjected to affliction, sorrows and woes that the kingdom of hell stands for.
One of the weapons made available for our victory is the Word of God. David told us how important God’s Word is when he said in Psalms 138:2
[2]I bow before your holy Temple as I worship.
I praise your name for your unfailing love and faithfulness;
for your promises are backed by all the honor of your name.” His Word ( His Promises) have the backing of all the honor of His name. I know we are aware of how honorable that name is, Philippians 2:9
[9]Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names. This means whatever the name of Jesus will do, His Word will do. That Word is Jesus Himself. At the entrance of that Word, there is light. Psalm 119: 130.
For the word of God to prevail for us, we need to be able to answer the question of today: who is at your gate?
If the word must prevail, you must identify who is at the gate of your life. Sweetheart there are gate watchers. He who is at your gate determines what happens in the house. Gate watchers influence how far you can go in life. If you are to prevail, it is important you answer this question. Gates keep both good and evil away. You can have a good guest and a bad guest. Gates determine the one who enters.
Joshua 2:5 (KJV)
“And it came to pass [about the time] of shutting of the gate, when it was dark, that the men went out: whither the men went I wot not: pursue after them quickly; for ye shall overtake them.”
Rahab made us to know that the gates of Jericho opensand closes. In this scripture, Rahab’s house was at the gate and she used the opportunity to harbor the spies that came to destroy Jericho. Her intentions here were good but please note that it was a treasonable felony. She was able to do what she did because she was at the gate.
Please who is at your gate? Knowing the importance of the gate in Jerusalem, Nehemiah appointed Hanani and Hananiah to watch Jerusalem’s gate; why? He considered them faithful. He said they feared God. He could give them this instructions –Nehemiah 7:3 (KJV)
“And I said unto them, Let not the gates of Jerusalem be opened until the sun be hot; and while they stand by, let them shut the doors, and bar [them]: and appoint watches of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, every one in his watch, and every one [to be] over against his house.”
Gates could represent personalities given charge of your destiny or the destiny of your father’s house –Psalm 24:7 (KJV)
“Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.”
To be without gates will open you for disaster and tragedy –Jeremiah 49:31″Rise up, advance against a nation at ease, that dwells securely, declares the LORD, that has no gates or bars, that dwells alone. (Jeremiah 49:31, ESV).
In Proverbs 31:23 (KJV)
“Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.”
We were made to know something important about gates – leaders and noble men sit there to discuss. Decisions are made there. Destines are moulded. Appointments are made there. What a disaster it will be if you are a city that has no control over its gates? Jesus said you are a city set upon the hill”You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. (Matthew 5:14, ESV)Who is at your gate? Who is the gate watcher? Christ recognized there are gates of hell when he discussed with peter in – Matthew 16:18 “And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. “(Matthew 16:18, ESV).
Sweetheart, in life, it’s gate versus gate.Im happy to announce to you that You have access to a gatethat swallows other gates. It is time to be mindful of your gate. The gate to your home, finance, health e.t.c. Every department of our lives is manned by gates. They are the principles that govern that department so Jesus told us through Peter in Matt 16: 19″ I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” (Matthew 16:19, ESV) Whoever has access to the keys opens the doors. The key that opens blissful marriage is different from the one that opens finance and that’s why some have money but no peace or sound health even after eating healthy.
Sweetheart in the authority you have , let’s go to gates and take mastery over them. It is time to dethrone all strange occupiers of that gate. It is time to even pull down all strange gates, ancient gates. Shall we?
▪︎Let’s arise today and put the living word, Jesus at the gate. He is the gate of all gates. He is the gate that all gates bow to. The gate of poverty bows to him. Hear him. Philippians 2:9-11 (KJV)
“Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of [things] in heaven, and [things] in earth, and [things] under the earth; And [that] every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ [is] Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
