Iyalojas seek women representation in govt

Ondo state governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa received the Iya Oloja General of Ondo State, Princess Adenike Aroloye, and a delegation of Iya Olojas and baba olojas to express their grief over the demise of the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu and extend congratulations to the current governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
Expressing their deep sorrow, Princess Aroloye conveyed the pain they felt, evident in their choice not to don their usual regalia. In her speech, she also congratulated Governor Aiyedatiwa on assuming the new office. However, she took the opportunity to advocate for increased representation of women in the administration, specifically urging the governor to appoint a woman as his deputy.
In response, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa expressed gratitude for the condolences and took a moment to appreciate everyone present. He reflected on the late governor’s legacy, highlighting Akeredolu’s commitment to security, peace, and unity. Recognized as “Mr. Talk and Do,” the late governor left an indelible mark with his unwavering dedication to fulfilling promises.
Governor Aiyedatiwa pledged to give the late governor a befitting state burial, extending an invitation to all for the final respects. He expressed heartfelt wishes for the late governor’s peaceful rest and assured those present that any unfinished projects or initiatives left by the late governor would be completed.
In response to the Iya Olojas’ plea for increased representation of women in politics, Governor Aiyedatiwa promised to look into the matter, acknowledging the importance of considering market women in political roles.
The event concluded with prayers for the repose of the late governor’s soul and for the continued unity and progress of Ondo State.
