The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has clarified that it does not select examination towns for candidates taking the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) or the optional Mock examination.

This clarification came as 90 percent of the available slots for the mock examination have been filled, with only a few states still open for selection.

In a statement issued on Sunday by the Spokesperson of the Board, Fabian Benjamin, JAMB noted that some candidates were making unusual choices in their selection of examination towns, likely in an attempt to participate in the optional mock exam.

The Board advised against selecting distant towns out of desperation, only to later complain about being assigned far from their residences or home states.

The examination body said the remaining states with available slots for the mock examination are Gombe, Jigawa, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Plateau, Sokoto, Taraba, and Yobe, saying candidates interested in the mock exam in these states are encouraged to select their examination towns accordingly.

It maintained that while candidates have the freedom to choose their preferred locations, JAMB urges them to consider travel logistics and convenience, noting that once a town’s capacity is filled, it will no longer be available for selection.
