A former Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party ,PDP in southwest, Ayo Fadaka has revealed how the governorship candidate of the party in Ondo state ,Eyitayo Jegede refused to pick his calls over 40 times in the build up to the 2020 governorship election.
Fadaka was reacting to allegations of anti–party activities levelled against him and four others after the Ondo governorship election which APC candidate, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu won.
The PDP in the State later suspended five of its members for alleged anti-party activities.
The action of the party was also linked with the agitations for offices in the forthcoming South-west zonal congress of the party.
The suspended persons were incidentally in the delegation that paid a visit to former Ekiti Governor, Ayo Fayose, to solicit support for a chieftain of the party, Eddy Olafeso, who aspires to become the Zonal Vice Chairman of the party in the South-west.
The party in the zone is however divided along the support lines of Mr Fayose and the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde.
The South-West Zonal Caretaker Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) ,later nullified the suspension of the five members.
The committee said their suspension did not follow the procedures of the party.
The affected members are Oyedele Ibini, Lad Ojomo, Ayo Fadaka, Rasheed Elegbeleye and Ebenezer Alabi.
Denying the allegation ,Fadaka pointed out that all his efforts to ensure the victory of PDP in the election was discouraged by Jegede and other party leaders.
He said “ Before the last governorship election, I called Eyitayo Jegede over 40 times on what should be our preparation for that election. Eyitayo Jegede never picked my calls one day.
“I had occasions to travel across the state on my own”.
