Jegun applauds Amotekun on security

The Jegun of Idepe Okitipupa, Oba Micheal Obatuga, has called on the people in the area to put their minds at rest as there is no cause for alarm concerning the security of lives and property.
Speaking with our correspondent, the monarch, said, “no matter how peaceful an environment is, there would still be some bad eggs, but with the help of Amotekun corps they would be curb .”
“Members of Amotekun Security network, are trying their best, they have been covering for us since the #ENDSARS protests which led to some attacks on governments properties. Till today people are patronising Amotekun because the Police Station here has been razed during the October 2020 protest, no cell to even keep suspects if eventually arrested by the Police.” He said
Obatuga added that the people in Okitipupa were concerned at the level of damages done and added that nobody prayed for such to happen again.
The people of the area have been living I n fear since the #Endsars protest which led to the vandalisation of both government and private property and looting of police ammunitions.
Speaking with the Youth leader of Okitipupa Local Government, Prince Oluwarotimi Omoge, assured that the youths were always on their toes to ensure that the lives and property of the people were secured by seeking other traditional supports.
” We have been taking it upon ourselves since the police are not working for now. We are making sure that lives and property are secured. I can assure you that. Besides, my colleagues and I, were at the Palace of (Are of Ògbóni) in a meeting towards how we are still going to put some other things in place in Okitipupa. Omoge said.
In a related view, Mrs Arike Adejuwon, a trader said, it is true that fear gripped them at the initial stage.
” I close my shop as early as 6pm daily in comparison with my previous time when I close by 9pm daily. But to my surprise, there had been no much record of criminality as everyone expected.
Moreover, a resident of Okitipupa, Ibukun Olawale,disclosed that criminal rates had seriously reduced even during the just concluded festive season even with the absence of the police.
