Jolly Phonics ‘ll improve pupils’ skills — Olabimtan

The chairman of Ondo State Universal Basic Education Board (ODSUBEB), Mr. Victor Olabimtan, has described the use of Jolly Phonics as a systematic approach to teaching learners how to read and write effectively.

Olabimtan, represented by Princess Olufumilayo Ademolegun Brown, a full-time member of ODSUBEB, said that the use of Jolly Phonics engages the attention of learners and results in participatory teaching and learning.

He made this statement during the Jolly Phonics Quiz competition and presentation of awards held in Akure, organised by the Universal Learning Solutions Initiative in conjunction with the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) and ODSUBEB.

 “This effort is imperative, as the provision of quality education for our children is paramount to our hearts. We are irrevocably and unapologetically committed to Mr Governor’s conviction to work assiduously for the people of Ondo State,” he added.

 Earlier, the Country Director, Universal Learning Solutions Initiative, Patrick Uzu, said the event marked a significant milestone in the collective effort to promote academic excellence and healthy learning for young minds. She noted that the quiz aimed to showcase the pupils’ knowledge.

 Represented by the Ondo State Coordinator, Mrs Dolapo Faturoti, Uzu acknowledged the efforts of ODSUBEB, under the leadership of Mr. Victor Olabimtan, towards education in Ondo State. She also thanked volunteers and sponsors for making the event possible.

Among the three schools that participated in the Jolly Quiz competition, UBEC Smart School, Owo, came first, St James Mega Primary School, Akure, was the first runner-up, while St John’s Mega Primary School, Idi-Iroko, emerged as the second runner-up.

Additionally, awards of excellence were presented to exceptional persons in the education sector in Ondo State.
