Jubilations as FSARS officers test negative to COVID-19

There were  jubilations at the premises of Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad along Igbatoro road in Akure as the result of the COVID-19 test conducted on its officers tested negative.

The affected officers, who could not hide their joy, heaved a sigh of relief for testing negative to the pandemic at last.

The Hope Metro investigation revealed that the results of the test was disclosed to them as promised by the O.C FSARS, CSP Oluwole Ezekiel.

It would be recalled that there was apprehension over the status of the officers who had contact with a suspect in police custody.

A top officer at FARS, who craved anonymity confirmed the story to The Hope Metro, saying the result came out and all the officers whose samples were taken tested negative.

His words, “The result of all officers in FARS came out today and we were all confirmed to be negative to the virus. We thank God for his mercies on us. Many people including our colleagues have been avoiding us  believing that were are positive, but today we have been vindicated.

“There have been lots of anxiety since the police boss ordered that we should be subjected to COVID-19 test. Many of us have been apprehensive and could not be free in associating with people, even some members of our family. And as I speak with you, we are told that we are negative to the virus.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Tee- Leo Ikoro, said he has called the O C FARS and has confirmed that all his men were negative .

He explained that the police boss has instructed that all officers of the squad should be subjected to test to ascertain their status and which is in line with NCDC recommendation.

He, however, hinted that officers of Yaba Police Divisional Headquarters in Ondo City, where three persons were alleged to have tested positive have also been taken to the State Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH) for treatment, while other police personnel in same division have been subjected to test.

The Spokesman advised people of the state to support efforts of the government in ensuring that the fight against the pandemic was won by observing all the precautionary measures.
