Operatives of Amotekun Corps in Osun state have arrested a 35-year-old man, Abayomi Timothy Babalola for allegedly kidnapping a married woman through diabolical means.
Babalola was apprehended on Monday, April 1, 2024, for kidnapping Sofiyat, 35 at Ode-Omu with a magic ring.
According to the Osun Amotekun Corps Commander, Brigadier General Bashir Adewinmbi rtd, while addressing journalists on Wednesday in Osogbo, the Modakeke indigene was arrested at Sekona town, Osun State.
Adewinmbi said the suspect used a magic ring to control the woman from her husband’s house in Ode-Omu to his residence in Modakeke where he held her hostage for three weeks and randomly assaulted her sexually
He said, “The suspect on March 29, 2024 took the woman to Ile-Ife and dropped her along the road where the woman raised an alarm which alerted Amotekun operatives who swung into action immediately and trailed the suspect to his hideout in Sekona where he was arrested.
“The suspect confessed that on September 2023 the victim Sofiyat approached him to help her sell her palm oil because that is the business he does, and along the line, he asked her out but she refused, saying she was married.
“He later approached one Alfa Ilorin, an herbalist in Sekona who gave him some charms. Since then, he claims that the woman has been listening and following his command.
“He controlled her using the charm to leave her husband and she did. He changed her sim card and they moved to Modakeke from Ode-Omu. All this happened within 3 weeks and has been sleeping with her randomly.”
Adewinmbi added that upon investigation, the suspect confessed to committing the act.
The Osun Amotekun boss revealed that the suspect has been transferred to the Department of State Services, DSS, for subsequent interrogation and prosecution.
Adewinmbi also advised residents of the state to be security conscious and be careful with the individuals they deal with.
Narrating her ordeal, the victim said she approached the suspect to help her sell palm oil.
According to her, the suspect had earlier asked her out but she refused and he called her to meet him in Modakeke.
Getting there, she said the suspect removed her sim card and replaced it with a new one and thereafter locked her inside a house in modakeke.
She explained that the suspect brings food to her in the room where she was locked up whenever he pleases him.
Her words: “On March 29, 2024 he came to the house to pick me and dropped me at Campus area in Ile-Ife. I raised alarm which attracted the Amotekun operatives in the area and the suspect was trailed to his hideout in Sekona where he was arrested.
