KADSVA honours Engr. Musa Nimrod with Award of Excellence

The Kaduna State Volleyball Association (KADSVA), on Monday, recognised the exceptional contributions of Engr. Musa Nimrod, President of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), by presenting him with an Award of Excellence at the Media Centre, Ahmadu Bello Stadium (ABS), Kaduna.

The event, which attracted several dignitaries from across Nigeria, celebrated his exceptional contributions to volleyball.

The Association, in its remarks, commended Nimrod’s unwavering support and efforts in the development of volleyball, describing his contributions as unprecedented. They highlighted his impact on the growth of the sport in Kaduna State and across Nigeria.

The Chairman of the Committee in Honour of Engr. Musa Nimrod, Lt. Col. J.G. Usman, praised the honouree for his steadfast dedication to the sport.

He described him as a man whose “soul, spirit, and body is nothing but volleyball.”

Usman emphasised Nimrod’s visionary leadership, noting that his tireless efforts had propelled volleyball to unprecedented heights in Nigeria.

He also commended the Nigeria Volleyball Federation under Nimrod’s stewardship, which has seen national teams achieve remarkable success in international competitions.

“I feel deeply honoured to chair a committee tasked with celebrating a man whose commitment to volleyball is unmatched,” Lt. Col. Usman said. “Engr. Nimrod is a visionary leader, a patriot, and a bridge builder who has been the backbone of volleyball history in Nigeria. His dedication, passion, and vision have elevated the game both nationally and globally.

“His irreplaceable influence and mentoring skills can never be overstated.

Sir, in our hearts, your name is written in gold. The Volleyball Community in Kaduna State has demonstrated unwavering trust and confidence in your leadership, which has been instrumental in the sport’s growth and development,” Usman added.

In his response, Engr. Musa Nimrod expressed surprise and gratitude for the recognition.

Speaking to journalists after the event, he revealed that he had deliberately maintained a low profile to avoid too much publicity but was overwhelmed by the honour.

“I am truly humbled by this gesture,” Nimrod said. “I applaud everyone working behind the scenes to ensure the progress of volleyball in Nigeria.

Integrity is the key, and I urge players and stakeholders in the sector to embrace it. While money can buy many things, it cannot buy integrity.”

Nimrod assured attendees of his continued support and intervention in upcoming volleyball competitions, pledging to sustain the sport’s growth at all levels. He also promised to maintain the scholarships he provides to athletes, which have enabled many to pursue academic ambitions.

  1. Hosted the U18 Girls and U19 Boys African Nations Championship in Abuja.

Ongoing Initiatives:

  1. Sustained the Nigeria Volleyball Premier League (NVPL) for seven years, attracting sponsorship.
  2. Revived the National Division 1 and 2 Volleyball Leagues.
  3. Organised the President’s Beach Volleyball Cup annually for nearly a decade.
  4. Facilitated professional contracts for Nigerian players globally.
  5. Supported over 100 grassroots programs nationwide.
  6. Conducted 20+ coaching clinics across the country.
  7. Inspired volleyball academies in all 36 states.
  8. Donated volleyball equipment to 29 state associations.
  9. Branded and distributed training balls nationwide.
  10. Expanded the NVPL into three divisions: Premier League, Division 1, and Division 2.
  11. Enabled professional opportunities and scholarships for over 20 players.

Nigeria’s female beach volleyball team secured a podium finish at the African Games in Accra, Ghana.

Facilitated international coaching courses and mentorship programs.

Engr. Musa Nimrod’s leadership has transformed volleyball in Nigeria, fostering grassroots development and international recognition, making the country a formidable force in global volleyball.
