The Ondo State Police Command has said it is on the trail of some burglars who allegedly broke into the MTN and Glo mast engine stations in Ikare Akoko station.

The Hope Metro gathered  that the yet to be apprehended hoodlums simultaneously broke into the two stations on  December 20, 2018.

They were said to have made away with a 16-solar battery from Mtn mast location at Victoria college, Ikare section.

The fleeing suspects reportedly  stole eight batteries from Glo mast station situated at Awelewa junction,  Ugbe,  Ikare.

It was learnt that the burglars stormed  the site at mid-night, while the guards were not around, which gave them  easy access to wipe out the whole station.

Police investigation revealed  that the security guards attached to the two stations, had abandoned their duty posts  for over six months due to non payment of salaries.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Femi Joseph disclosed  that the night guard at the MTN station, has been arrested to assist in getting the perpetrators

He added that investigations to nab the perpetrators had fully commenced.
