The family of the adopted Ekiti oil dealer, Alhaji Suleiman Akinbami, has disclosed that no contact has been established between the suspected kidnappers and the family.
A source close to the family told our correspondent who visited the family house located at Ologede area along Ado/Ikere-Ekiti road that the kidnappers were yet to contact the family, while the telephone number of the Septuagenarian has since switched off.
When our correspondent arrived at the area, some members of the family including sympathisers were seen crying and wailing.
One of the members of the family who spoke under the condition of anonymity said all efforts made by the security men to locate the oil dealer proved abortive as no contact has yet been made.
It would be recalled that gunmen numbering about four and armed with guns on Sunday kidnapped the 70-year-old man and whisked him away to unknown destination in his Prado jeep.
Reacting to the development, the Police Public Relations Officer, Ekiti State Command, Mr Sunday Abutu, said special team from the command are currently working round the clock to free the oil dealer.
According to Abutu, the special team would be assisted by other security agencies including Amatekun Corps as well as local vigilante and hunters.
“Around 9:05 pm on Sunday, the old man was abducted at his petrol station located along Odo-Ado.
”A distress call was immediately made to the divisional police station located in the area by one Mrs Mariam Akinbami, who claimed to be one of the wives of the victim.
“Upon the receipt of the information, officers of the command immediately swung into action. And as I am talking to you now, our men are currently combing the whole bush along Ado/Ijan road.”
The police image maker urged residents of the state not to panic, assuring them of adequate security, safety of lives and property.
