Kidnapped victims in Akoko regain freedom

The three men abducted by kidnappers in Akoko last friday have regained their freedom.

The Hope Metro recall that the men were kidnapped along Auga/Ise road in Akoko Northeast local government of Ondo state.

The abductees, Mr Gbalaja Mayowa, a staff of the Federal College of Education, Okene and One Mr Arifayan Ayolekan a staff of an Animal Feeds company, also in Okene were travelling in a Corolla car with number plate ABC 36 PY. for a wedding ceremony in Ikare when the gunmen kidnapped them.

 The third abductee, one Mr Ibrahim Lawal, who is the occupier of the Mitsubishi Pick-up van, is a staff of Dangote Group and was coming from Ibese in Ogun state to Obajana, when he ran into the hands of the abductors.

It was learnt that the prompt efforts of Ikare Akoko police and the local vigilante groups coupled with the joint efforts of police in Kogi and Edo States that made the kidnappers to quickly to released them.

Earlier on, the abductors demanded for a N30million ransom from the Dangote staff, while they asked the other two abductees for N1million ransom each, family sources disclosed.

Meanwhile, stakeholders in Akoko land are seriously planning for a way forward to reduce the rate of heinous crimes like kidnapping, ritual killings and robbery in the area.

Spokesman of the people, Alhaji Ibrahim Kilani noted that negative impact of these criminal activities drive and prevent investors from coming Akokoland.

Kilani said security is everybody’s business which should not be left for the government alone.
