Kidnappers kill driver, female passenger, abduct 5 in Ondo

It was a sad weekend as two passengers were shot dead, five were kidnapped and whisked away by suspected kidnappers, and another two escaped with various degrees of wounds along the Ifon/Owo Expressway in Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The Hope Metro learned that the suspected kidnappers, numbering about fifteen and armed with AK-47 rifles, ambushed commuters at about 11 pm on Friday at Omi Alafa Village in Ifon, Ose Local Government Area of the state.
According to information gathered by The Hope Metro, members of the community who witnessed the incident reported to the police how commuters were ambushed by the suspected kidnappers who fired sporadically at the Sienna bus.
A source in the community hinted to The Hope Metro that the vehicle was coming from Anambra State with passengers heading to Owo and Akure.
They also mentioned that the corpses of the driver and one of the passengers occupying the front seat, a lady, have been deposited at the morgue of Adelabu Hospital in Ifon.
Confirming the incident, the Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, SP Fumilayo Odunlami-Omisanyan, said the command cannot ascertain the exact number of escaped victims, but added that “our men are fully on the ground, combing the forest to ensure that the kidnapped victims are rescued.”
