Kidnappers machete colleague to cover up

Some kidnappers in Akoko axis of Ondo State, have reportedly ma­cheted a member of their gang to cover up their escapades in the state.

The Hope Metro gathered that the bandits attacked their colleague with  machete, when they discovered he had been arrested by men of the Ondo State Security Network otherwise known as Amotekun Corps, and made some confessions.

He was later res­cued by the officials of Amotekun Corps.

The Corps Commander, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, explained that the kidnap­pers were operating at the borders of Ondo and Kogi states.

He disclosed that one of them, who usually conveyed them on motorbike to their den, was apprehended by the Amotekun Corps in Akoko.

He said: ”There were three cap­tives in their den and were still negotiating with their families for ransom, when one of the syndicate was ar­rested with the motorbike he used to bring in supplies to them in their hideout.

“After discovering that the suspect apprehended had confessed to the crime and revealed their operations and hideout, when he ar­rived at their hideout, they attacked him with machete.

“But before they could hack him to death, the operatives of Amotekun Corps who were following the victim, rescued him and rounded up the suspects.”

The captives, a father and her daughter with an­other man, all from the Northern part of the country, were rescued.

Adeleye stated: “We have a particular case where we were able to break a kidnap syndicate in Akoko.

“The  victims are with us and the bike with which the kid­nappers  supplied  food.

“The suspect has confessed to several kidnappings in Akoko, Kogi and Edo States. And we are still looking for their sponsor who is at large.”

The Corps Commander reassured the people of the state of ade­quate security as the Corps, in collaboration with other security agencies in the state would continue to provide 24/7 patrol in the 18 local government areas of the state.

He enjoined the people to inform security agencies quickly whenever they ob­serve any strange faces and movement in the areas.
