Kidnappers paid N2m, free Chinese expatriate, guard

A Chinese national and his security man, who were abducted by kidnappers in his house at Igbotako in Okitipupa local government area of Ondo State have been released.
The victims regained their freedom on Wednesday night after payment of N2 million ransom after spending four days in the kidnappers’ den.
The Hope Metro had reported the expatriate was abducted alongside one of his security men at his residence .
The hoodlums had earlier demanded N100 million, but after negotiations with the kidnappers, they collected N2million and freed the victims.
A competent police source, who confirmed their release story to The Hope Metro said after the kidnappers collected the N2million ransom, they instructed the negotiator to bring additional N5 million to make it N7 million.
The source said: “To the surprise of everyone, they later released the victims and they had reunited with their families.
Meanwhile, the state Police Commissioner, CP Bolaji Salami, has directed tatical squads, Anti-Kidnapping Squad, Anti-Cultism Squad and all the Divisional police officers covering the riverine areas of the state to tighten up security in their domains.
