Worried by the spate of incessant kidnappings along Owo-Ikare-Oba Akoko area of Ondo state,  people travelling on this route  have been advised to pray against the unwholesome activities of suspected herdsmen who have been unleashing terrors on innocent people in the last two  weeks.

The parish priest in charge of Mary Queen of Apostles Catholic church in Ijoka, Akure, the state capital, Very Revened Father Raphael Adesulu  gave the advice during the Thanksgiving Mass held to mark  2018 Adult Harvest and Bazaar sales in the church.

He said the rate of kidnapping in recent times in the state, especially along Owo-Ikare/Oba Akoko roads have taken a worrisome and dangerous dimension, stressing the urgent need to tackle the menace before it gets  out of hands as people plying the roads are no longer safe.

According to him   a catholic priest in Ondo Diocese, recently escaped being abducted on the same route, while on a journey.

The cleric, while calling on relevant security agencies to wake up  to their responsibilities and rise up to the security challenges in the state, urged the congregation to pray for the country and their leaders at this critical time as the nation prepares for election.

Speaking on the significance of Annual Harvest thanksgiving, he noted that it is a time for the people to appreciate God for his mercies upon their lives by bringing gifts to God and also asking God for more favours, in the years ahead.

According to the priest,  this year’s harvest was tagged: ‘Harvest of Divine Mercy and Common Favour,”  annual harvest of the church is also known as “Community Harvest” because the church is located in a community.
